What is Tributyrin? Tributyrin (or butyrin, or tri-butyrate) is a triglyceride of the short-chain fatty acid called butyrate (sometimes called butyric acid or butanoic acid).Which contains three butyrate molecules esterified to glycerol. Glyceryl tributyrate is a colorless transparent oily liquid with a slight fatty aroma. The boiling point is 307.5°C and the relative density is 1.0320. Tributyrin is naturally found in foods such as milk and honey. Molecular Formula: C15H26O6 Molecular Formula: 302.36 Tributyrin’s Feature Tributyrin is hardly decomposed through the stomach, but decomposed into butyric acid and glycerol under the action of pancreatic lipase or other esterases,thereby providing sufficient energy source (butyric acid) for the intestines. Half-life up to 40min,Tributyrin overcomes the defect of fast metabolism of butyrate in the blood, improves blood active oxygen carrying capacity and mitochondrial function for ATP synthesis, and reduce the fatal infection mortality.
